L-Tyrosine

Introduction

L-Tyrosine is considered a non-essential amino acid but this does not mean that under certain instances it is not vitally important. Tyrosine can be manufactured in the body from the essential amino acid phenylalanine. L-Tyrosine is found in relatively small concentrations in the body probably because it is metabolized rapidly.

Description: White crystals or crystalline powder; tasteless. Freely soluble in formic acid, very slightly soluble in water, practically insoluble in ethanol and in ether. Dissolve in dilute hydrochloric acid and in dilute nitric acid.

Synonyms: 2-Amino-3-(4-hydroxyphenyl)-propanoic acid; 3-(4-Hydroxyphenyl)-L-alanine

CAS No.60-18-4
