Introduction

Threonine is an essential amino acid that is necessary for building all proteins. Threonine is the precursor of serine and glycine. It is found in the heart, skeletal muscle, and the nervous system. It plays a vital function in the development of enamel, collagen, elastin and in the growth of the thymus gland.

Description: White crystals or crystalline powder; slightly sweet taste. Very soluble in formic acid, soluble in water; practically insoluble in ethanol and ether.
